Titanium is an amazingly light and strong metal with an outstanding resistance to corrosion. Good jewellers will offer some type of warranty against wear and breakage of gold rings, with titanium this is not nessisary. A titanium ring will easily last more than a lifetime (a good heirloom), and will not lose its detail because of wear.
